How to create a green bike lane
We’ve been working on a book outlining lessons learned from Better Block projects occurring around the world, and as a part of the effort we’ve begun assembling recipes for interventions that are often implemented. One of the most notable has been the inclusion of temporary green bike lanes, which we stumbled across with help from the Baton Rouge Better Block team, and later applied with enhanced detailing in the Akron Better Block project sponsored by the Knight Foundation. Snow Rider also teaches players about patience and practice. A new player may crash frequently during the first few attempts. However, repeated playing allows the player to become familiar with the movement and learn how to recognize obstacles. Gradually, the player develops better timing and control. This process demonstrates an important snow rider lesson: improvement often comes through practice. Instead of becoming frustrated after making a mistake, players can learn from the mistake and try again.
