Meet Our Two New Team Members

New Events Manager Kristin Leiber and Urban Designer Amanda Bagwell joined our team last month and have already been making great headway in the world of placemaking.

Kristin Leiber, Events Manager

Kristin Leiber is an Oak Cliff resident and jill of all trades with a background in finance, start-ups, and sustainability. As the new Events Manager and self-proclaimed “do-er,” she can be found in the office or in the field, busily coordinating and balancing the moving pieces for Better Block projects such as layout designs, tight budgets, community input, urban planning concepts, volunteer workshops, and city council agendas. Just a few weeks in, she hasn’t experienced the same day twice. On one day, she met with government officials to discuss a first-of-its-kind neighborhood project, and on another, she sweated through her shirt twice while constructing a giant chalkboard. Her current major projects include a placemaking festival near Washington D.C., a bike lane project in southern Georgia, and a crime prevention via urban design project with the Department of Justice in Northeast Dallas. She most looks forward to getting to work with a tight-knit team of creatives and thought leaders at Better Block and guiding community projects all the way through from inception to completion.

Amanda Bagwell, Urban Designer

Our Urban Designer, Amanda Bagwell, is a recent graduate from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she majored in Design Studies. In her schooling, she studied abroad in Copenhagen at DIS, and interned with multiple community engagement projects. As an Urban Designer, Amanda not only leads projects in conjunction with community partners but also dreams up and models site plans for the places we work. Currently, she is leading a project in West Allis, Wisconsin, as well as some local projects in Vickery Meadow and Richardson. In these first projects, she is eager to meet community members and work to create vibrant and human-centric public spaces.

We are proud to welcome our new Events Manager and Urban Designer to our Better Block family. Get to know them better by volunteering at one of our upcoming events.

It's great to see such thoughtful introductions of new team members. The way you highlighted their backgrounds and expertise was very clear and helpful. I recently came across a similar discussion on a blog reviewing community initiatives, which offered some interesting insights as well. Platforms like https://southerndry.com/ also emphasize the value of building strong, connected teams, which really resonates here.
