On November 19th, Team Better Block in collaboration with the City of Dallas will hold a Better Block demonstration on Grand Avenue and Meadow Street next to RL Griffin’s Blues Palace #2 from 10:30AM to 1:30PM. The idea to pair the event with a Gospel BBQ came about after studying the area and meeting with residents and stakeholders and learning about the rich history of gospel choirs and BBQ joints that can be found throughout the area. Combining the institutions of an area with a Complete Street not only promotes the identity of an area, but creates a unique and exciting destination that builds on the cultural staples of the community.
Cornerstone Baptist Church, the Men of Nehemiah, and other choirs will perform during the day while Eva’s House of Bar-B-Que serves up come local favorites. The event will also showcase a pedestrian and bicycle friendly street with active facades lining the sidewalks. It should be an amazing day!
