New Kensington Better Block

A transformation is coming to

New Kensington September 21 | 11AM - 3PM

Together with you, The Better Block Foundation, Valley Points Family YMCA, Penn State New Kensington, and the Richard King Mellon Foundation are collaboratively working to re-envision the possibilities and connections to the YMCA. This temporary demonstration is free and will be open to the public on September 21 from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at 852 Constitution Boulevard, New Kesington, PA 15068.

This community-led placemaking event aims to inspire residents to creatively transform the space next to the Valley Points YMCA via activation to imagine what it could be in the future. Anticipated enhancements include seating, art installations, and new opportunities for community gatherings.

The objective is to experiment with ideas, gather feedback, and integrate community input to shape a more vibrant and inviting YMCA. Our collective goal is to create a dynamic environment where residents can live, work, and come together as a thriving community.

What Happens After the Kickoff?

The Valley Points Family YMCA is offering local organizations the chance to creatively 'take over' the newly revitalized space for hosting their own unique community-focused event between September 22 and October 20.

The YMCA will provide the revitalized area, including a stage and vendor space, and organizations will then have the freedom to design and organize their own event. It's a great opportunity for our community partners to engage with the community in a newly vibrant and flexible environment.

If you're interested in scheduling for one of these later dates, please feel out the vendor form below!
